Here’s a shout out to the new mommy to be: My sister!!! I never would have thought that we would be pregnant at the same time. I just wish we lived closer so we could be a bigger part of each others (and our kids) lives. Congrats to you and John and the soon to be big sister. Hope you have an easy pregnancy and a healthy baby!
18 Month Check-up February 3, 2008
Friday was Stephen’s “well child” check-up, even though I wouldn’t have concidered him very “well”. His new stats are: Height 32.5 inches (58%), Weight 23 pounds 10 ounces (20%), and Head 48.4cm (69%). He is doing great, my only concern was his lack of vocabulary. The doctor reassured me that most boys will all of a sudden start saying much more right around the 2 year mark. So I guess we will wait and see what happens with that. I am sure I will be begging him to be quite once he does start really talking.
I finally got my hair cut. The last time was almost a year to the day. Can you believe that? One whole year with no haircut. I also got some long needed girl time with some friends. Robin and I are standing up in a wedding in July; the bridesmaids had their fittings today at David’s Bridal. That was nerve-racking for me, 5 months pregnant trying to figure out what size I will be 4 weeks after giving birth. Oh and don’t forget the ever changing boob size that comes with breastfeeding. I was very excited to get out of the house 2 days in a row with no children or husband nagging me about something. I turned a dress fitting into a 4 hour vacation away from all the coughing, boogers driping from noses and a lazy husband that lays on the couch all weekend while I cook, clean, do laundry, diapers, baths, naps BLAH BLAH BLAH. Anyways, I am glad I finally got a couple days of “Me Time”. I am definately going to call it an early night; medicate the children and hopefully I will be in bed by 9:30pm. Sweet dreams to all!
Recap February 2, 2008
Lyhna does NOT have whooping cough. When will I learn to never take her mother seriously. She just has a really annoying cough that requires codine (of course Robin didn’t get to the pharmacy until it was closed so I start bracing myself for the night ahead). Lets start my recap at 8pm:
8pm- Stephen goes to bed (usual bedtime)
9pm- Stephen still awake, bring him out Lyhna goes to bed (If both are in there awake at the same time, neither will go to sleep)
10pm- Stephen back to bad, Robin goes out with some friends
3am- Robin gets home, Lyhna starts coughing
3:30- Lyhna gets medicine, back to bed
3:45am- I tell Lyhna to go on the couch so Stephen doesn’t wake up
4:15am- Stephen starts whining and crying a bit, I leave him alone thinking he will go back to sleep
4:30am- Full blow screaming starts, Lyhna finally falls back to sleep
4:35am- Stephen gets his cough medicine and some water, occupy him in his room until it kicks in
5:30am- I finally go to bed
7am- Lyhna wakes Robin (and me) up to tell him to go get her medicine (It doesn’t open until 9am)
HOW WAS YOUR NIGHT?
What’s next? February 1, 2008
Lyhna has whooping cough. Enough said.
In better news, we got our Federal Tax Return today—Yippee!
I have offically lost my mind… January 31, 2008
Yesterday I agreed to watch another baby for two weeks. Initially when Robin told me that some friends needed someone to watch their 8 month old girl, he gave me the impression that it was only one day a week for 2 weeks. No big deal, I can do that. So they call me yesterday to give the details. Turns out it is for 2 weeks, Monday THRU Thursday pretty much all day. That means, my devil child plus an 8 month old and the 9 month old that I usually watch. Oh my what did I get myself into?
HELP!! January 31, 2008
What has happened to my sweet little boy? Who took him away and left this naughty, devil child in his place? I want him back IMMEDIATELY!!! He won’t eat anything. Anything I put in front of him will be dumped on the floor and his lap the second I look away. They only way I can get him to eat is if I feed him like he is a baby. He constantly goes in the garbage, and if I put up the gate he had a major meltdown. All doors need to be shut at all times to keep him from other garbage cans, drawers with toothpaste (he can open that too by the way), my underware drawer, EVERYTHING!! When I say “No, don’t touch!” he laughs and runs away and gets into something else. Oh, don’t forget the computer, that is a whole other issue. All the buttons, he can reach the mouse on the desk, constantly reaching for anything he can get his hands on! I am going insane. It is not from lack of attention, I play with him all day long. I swear, the 3 hour naps he has been taking lately are my only escape from my monster that hits and throws everything at me. Why won’t he listen to me, but all Daddy has to do is shake his head no and he stops what he is doing instantly. What is wrong with me?!?!
Full blown sick mode January 29, 2008
While I think I am on the downswing of my annoying cold, it is hitting Stephen pretty bad. I am sure it didn’t help that Daddy kept him up until 9:30pm last night so I could see him when I got home from work. It was a nice thought, but the poor guy needs his rest. The coughing fits are getting worse and lasting longer, which sets off the river of boogers running from his nose. With all the talk of how cold medicine is bad for children especially under the age of 2, I feel helpless. I put the vaporizer in his room and put Vicks Baby Vapor Rub on his chest, then topped it all off with some Tylenol. It seems to be helping, but there is nothing worse than seeing your child sick. I love nap time, I get some rest too.
Sympathy Cravings??? January 28, 2008
Stephen and I have been graced with the presence of stuffy and runny noses and a cough. I have a sore throat too, he can’t tell me if his hurts so, I will guess yes it hurts too. I knew this was going to happen. Last Sunday we went to a friends house where there was 2 kids with runny noses and nasty hacking coughs. I did my best to keep things out of Stephens mouth and wash hands many times. So all that effort was for nothing because we got it anyway.
Here is a recap of last night (while watching Bobby Flays Throwdown: Ice Cream Sundae)
9:45pm From Stephen’s room: Cough, Cough, Cough
Robin: Ohhh, the poor little guy
Me: Cough, Blow nose, sneeze 3 times, blow nose…
Robin: Do you have to do that, I can’t hear the TV. Man, I really want an ice cream sundae now, I buy you fly.
Me: Are you crazy…………………. (I think you can fill in the rest)
Another New Favorite January 26, 2008
If you are anything like me, you hate washing or rinsing your dishes after they just finished a cycle in the dishwasher. I know what you are thinking…. I do rinse EVERYTHING off before it is even put in the dishwasher. (I know it is done to everything because I apparently am the only one in my house that knows how to open the door to the dishwasher.) I have tried several different products to solve the mystery gunk problem and came across the greatest one yet:
I haven’t had to rinse one dish yet, not even one water spot on a glass. It has cut my daily task of emptying the dishwasher time in half!!
Boring post, I know, but I had to mention it. It is the little things in life that make us housewives happy.
