I don’t ever complain that I don’t get anything for Valentine’s Day, or Mother’s Day, or really even my birthday.  But IF I were to get something this year this is what I want- forget the flowers or the chocolate, even the dinner out.  I WANT THIS!! (or any other from the site www.ediblearrangments.com)

I’ve Been MIA January 10, 2008

I am feeling very guilty about not posting for a very long time.  But there hasn’t been much to write about in my life lately.  So in a nut shell here is what has happened since Christmas:

1. Stephen had his tongue surgery.  It was an interesting experiance to say the least.  The whole thing lasted about 10 minutes but he screamed bloody murder for 45 min after.  I have never felt such gut wrenching guilt in my life.  He is all better now and sticks his tongue out all day long.

2. We went sledding.  That was a disaster.  It took longer for me to get Stephen dressed to go out in the snow than we were actually sledding. He went down the hill twice with Daddy.  The first time was no problem, the second went fine again but he just had enough.

3. I am babysitting like crazy for the neighbor boy.  The days when I watch him all day I question whether or not it is worth it.  He is a very needy, sensitive, cry baby that needs to be held ALL THE TIME!! I can’t hold him all the time, in fact I refuse to hold him all the time.  I have my own child that has needs also… like getting lunch and his diaper changed too.  Is it just me and my hormones or are other children’s whines and cries the most annoying thing in the world?

4. Baby updates: I am starting to feel the baby kick a little bit.  My belly button is stretching. And I have had 2 more “girl dreams.” So I am absolutely convinced that this one is a girl.  I will have an appointment coming up in the next couple weeks to find out for sure.

5. House hunting: We went to our first open house last week.  I realized it is going to take a lot of patience to find a house that works for us.  This one was okay except for the yard.  It was a corner lot with no backyard.  I  could literally reach a broom handle out the dining room window and touch the fence. Not for us.

6. New Years: We had a nice adult only dinner with another couple.  I don’t think that has happened since September.  After dinner we went to a nearby bar to shoot pool.  We only had a sitter until 8:30 so it was an early night, but definately worth it.

Thats about it.  I told you… pretty boring life. I am working more often so I will be able to post a little bit more.  So check back next week for more!!

Merry Christmas to all! December 24, 2007

Today is Christmas Eve although it doesn’t really feel like it. We did all of our holiday festivites over the weekend so today is just another day in the Donchess house.  I actually am working today since Robin is off–Fun Fun! I will be posting pictures from over the weekend sometime today.  Some of them are a little cloudy.  Stephen smudged the lens and I didn’t figure it out until today.  I thought it got put on some wierd setting, but it was a finger print.  Anyways, the update on Stephen’s tongue is this.  He is having out-patient surgery on Wednesday.  The procedure should only take 15 minutes or so.  The really sucky part is that we have to be there to check in at 6am, but his time slot is 7:30.  Oh did I mention he  can’t have anything to eat or drink after midnight. This should be loads of fun. I never leave the house with him without crackers and a sippy cup.  I can’t wait for the whinning to begin at about 6:15.

Merry Christmas and thank you to everyone for all the gifts for the kids and Robin and I!

“That’s It?” December 8, 2007

Filed under: Holidays — Renee @ 8:59 pm

Maybe it is just me being overly emotional lately, but I swear for a split second I wanted to smack her. So I should probably explain: I have been very excited for the holidays this year.  I have to pace myself with the shopping and I am a little bummed that I can’t put out all of my decorations because Mr. Grabby hands will destroy everything.  I have put a huge amount of effort into getting Stephen to say Ho Ho Ho, which he does about 50% of the time when I ask him what Santa says.  Stephen points out every single Santa in the house and the ones we see when we are out.  I love it!! He is starting to “get it” as much as a 16 month old can.  So when St. Nick came to our house we had to wait until Lyhna came over after school.  I was so excited for the kids to go through their stockings.  So of course Lyhna comes busting through the door, “Did St Nick come? What’s in my stocking?” It was over in a matter of 10 seconds and the response… “That’s it?” I know she is 8 and all she cares about is getting presents but come on.  Jammies, matching slipper-socks, 2 books, a snowglobe, a Littlest Pet Shop, and a craft project. Thats not enough?! So thank god that there was a St. Nick bag from Grandma and Grandpa.  She tore through that, again in 10 seconds, and the response… “That’s it?” WTF is going on here. Was I that snotty about stuff at her age? So my reply to all this was:

“Lyhna it sounds like you are being ungrateful.  If that is how you are going to be then maybe I should call Santa and tell him how greedy you are being, and that I don’t think you should get anything under the tree this Christmas. And that is not a very good example to set for your brother.”

Lyhna “I just wanted to know if that was it, sorry.”

When I told Robin about this he simply said, “Maybe Santa is going to be stingy this year.”

BAH HUMBUG!!

Pissed Off Mommy December 2, 2007

Did all the stores stop making size 5 or 6 snow boots for boys? Seriously, I went to Target, Walmart, Kohls, Shopko, and Payless. We are in the midst of a major snow storm here and poor Stephen can’t go out and play.  All he can to is watch Lyhna and her friends play in the snow.  Sure I thought of putting 5 pairs of socks on his feet and then shoes, but then they don’t fit.  I have been so excited for the first big snow fall of the year so we could take Stephen out to play in it.  So all this talk about the winter weather advisory got my butt in gear this morning to get new snow pants and boots for both kids.  Lyhna is all set and was playing outside long before it started snowing. Not my little Steve-O. I am going to hit every single store in Oshkosh tomorrow (I covered all the ones in Neenah and Appleton today) until I get my son some damn snow boots!!!

Oh while I am venting here… Is it to much to ask for a NORMAL Christmas outfit for a boy? I am to the point were anything without a giant snowman will do. On a positive note: I found matching pajama’s for the kids for St. Nick.  I can see it now, the two of them showing of their best smiles in front of the tree in their matching reindeer jammies.  I smell a Christmas Card photo!
