Yesterday I agreed to watch another baby for two weeks. Initially when Robin told me that some friends needed someone to watch their 8 month old girl, he gave me the impression that it was only one day a week for 2 weeks. No big deal, I can do that. So they call me yesterday to give the details. Turns out it is for 2 weeks, Monday THRU Thursday pretty much all day. That means, my devil child plus an 8 month old and the 9 month old that I usually watch. Oh my what did I get myself into?
WTF? January 23, 2008
Why would someone pay a babysitter to watch their child while they sit home and do nothing?? I didn’t pawn my child off on someone when he was teething and possessed by the devil… If you can’t handle it don’t have kids!! I’m just saying.
I’ve Been MIA January 10, 2008
I am feeling very guilty about not posting for a very long time. But there hasn’t been much to write about in my life lately. So in a nut shell here is what has happened since Christmas:
1. Stephen had his tongue surgery. It was an interesting experiance to say the least. The whole thing lasted about 10 minutes but he screamed bloody murder for 45 min after. I have never felt such gut wrenching guilt in my life. He is all better now and sticks his tongue out all day long.
2. We went sledding. That was a disaster. It took longer for me to get Stephen dressed to go out in the snow than we were actually sledding. He went down the hill twice with Daddy. The first time was no problem, the second went fine again but he just had enough.
3. I am babysitting like crazy for the neighbor boy. The days when I watch him all day I question whether or not it is worth it. He is a very needy, sensitive, cry baby that needs to be held ALL THE TIME!! I can’t hold him all the time, in fact I refuse to hold him all the time. I have my own child that has needs also… like getting lunch and his diaper changed too. Is it just me and my hormones or are other children’s whines and cries the most annoying thing in the world?
4. Baby updates: I am starting to feel the baby kick a little bit. My belly button is stretching. And I have had 2 more “girl dreams.” So I am absolutely convinced that this one is a girl. I will have an appointment coming up in the next couple weeks to find out for sure.
5. House hunting: We went to our first open house last week. I realized it is going to take a lot of patience to find a house that works for us. This one was okay except for the yard. It was a corner lot with no backyard. I could literally reach a broom handle out the dining room window and touch the fence. Not for us.
6. New Years: We had a nice adult only dinner with another couple. I don’t think that has happened since September. After dinner we went to a nearby bar to shoot pool. We only had a sitter until 8:30 so it was an early night, but definately worth it.
Thats about it. I told you… pretty boring life. I am working more often so I will be able to post a little bit more. So check back next week for more!!
Babysitting Day 4 October 13, 2007
My sweet little Stephen isn’t so sweet or innocent. While babysitting on Friday, Stephen decided to become a UFC fighter. He was trying to slap, hit, and sit on poor little Braeden. Of course I was right there to block all of his attempts to beat the crap out of the baby. Robin was also there and was very upset by this. When we go to the YMCA, the day care never tells me that he hits other kids. Is it just the baby or are they not watching him very closely? I wonder…
Adventures in Babysitting… October 11, 2007
This week I started watching Braeden, a 5 month old neighbor. So far things are going really well. How bad could it be, he is only here for an hour and a half. Braeden is a very mellow baby, he only fusses when he is hungry. I can already see Stephen’s jealousy brewing. When I have the baby sitting on my lap he backs up and tries to hop on board too. Also, Stephen is wanting to be held all the time this whole week. Yesterday it worked out nice with Stephen’s nap. He woke up 5 min before Braeden’s dad came to get him. I would like to do that everyday, but I know Stephen needs the interaction and needs to learn how to be gentle and share. Next week we will have the baby for 2 and a half hours, so we will see how it goes. But so far so good!!
