Let The Countdown Begin!!

4 Will Soon Become 5!!

The day from HELL! November 16, 2007

Filed under: Family, Leetopia, Random — Renee @ 2:32 pm

It all started at 4am when Lyhna started vomiting, which subsequently woke up Stephen.  The barfing continued all day until 1pm when I finally called her mother to come get her because I had a lot of running around to do to get things organized to go up north for opening weekend.  Dear old mommy didn’t take her to the doctor until 6pm when Lyhna started to complain about right side pain.  Hello appendix?!? So then they go to the hopital to meet with a surgen to see if it needs to come out.  While all this was going on Robin was off sighting in his gun.  I finally got ahold of him to tell him what was going on.  Well, on his way home he took out a 9-point buck with the car.  GREAT!! Lyhna finally gets home so we go see her at 8:30ish.  She needed to go to a follow-up this morning at 7am.  In the end: The appendix is staying in, she needs to be rehydrated, the car needs a new radiator among other things, and our plan to be at the cabin all day Friday has been thwarted.  Lyhna will not be coming with us, and we won’t get there until 3 or 4 at the earliest (depending on the vehicle situation).

What does everyone think of this stroller?  When the baby gets here Stephen will be 22 months old.  I thought this might be a good option for us. Any thoughts…

Surprise or no Surprise? November 10, 2007

Filed under: Preggers — Renee @ 3:53 pm

When I found out that I was pregnant again I just assumed that we would find out the sex of the baby.  Well, Robin threw me for a loop last night.  I just sat down after work enjoying  a nice bowl of Frosted Mini-Wheats when he drops two bombs on me.  Bomb #1: If the baby is a boy I want to name him Riko (Rye-coe).  I nearly chocked on my cereal.  That has got to be on my top ten worst names ever list.  I said NO, but lets not worry about that until we find out what it is.  That way there are no “fights” about unnessecary names.  Bomb#2: “I don’t want to know what it is until it comes out.”

Me: What did you just say? What if it is a girl? We don’t have any girl stuff, we will need to buy all new bedding, and clothes, and blankets and EVERYTHING!!

Robin: But this will be the last kid we have, I want it to be a surprise.  That is the only real surprise in the world, it would probably bring a tear to my eye when it is born to be that surprised. Besides it will be summer time, so buy a few onsies in case to have on hand if it is a girl.  And you know that it will sleep in our room for a few weeks so the bedding isn’t an issue either.

I think to myself: He is really serious about this and has clearly put a lot of thought into it.  He is CRAZY!

Me: I will think about it and get back to you.

I understand the suprise aspect of it.  But I would open my Christmas presents and re-wrap them because I couldn’t wait to find out.  This would be a gagillion times worse.  I have to know or I will go insane worrying if it is a girl and I am totally unprepared. HELP!!

We are a bottle free home!!! November 10, 2007

It has been one week now since we cut off the baba.  I thought the first couple of days went pretty well until I figured out that while I was at work Daddy was allowing sippy cups in bed!!! I swear I felt steam come out of my ears.  I calmly explained that sippy cups were not allowed in bed at any time EVER!! Daddy’s response: “Well what is he supposed to drink in bed to fall asleep?” NOTHING!!! That is the point of all this, he doesn’t need anything to drink while he is sleeping!!! So it took Mommy all week dealing with a whiny toddler at nap time and sometimes screaming at bedtime to break him.  An added bonus, I am going through less diapers now that he isn’t guzzling bottles down 3 times a day.  I was kind of worried that he wasn’t getting enough to drink through-out the day, but I think we are ok. With that said, I am on a mission to find a different doctor to fix his tongue.

9 Weeks Today… November 6, 2007

Filed under: Preggers — Renee @ 9:46 pm

Today was my first OB appointment.  What is it about going to that particular doctor that makes a person feel a bit violated? Maybe it’s the stripping down to your socks, putting on the paper top, and tucking in the paper drape anywhere possible to feel the tiniest bit covered up. Gotta love it! Despite all that, everything seems to be going great.  I got to hear the heartbeat which was very exciting since I didn’t get to hear Stephen’s at this point.  The baby’s heart rate was 174, which (according to all the internet “myths”) means we should buy pink instead of blue.  The doctor and nurse couldn’t agree on one due date because of the leap year, so they gave me an estimation of June 11-13th. I have an ultrasound scheduled for Nov. 20th for genetic screening of birth defects.  I can’t wait to see that little alien growing inside of me.  It still boggles my mind how this all happens. Well, I hear my other monster waking up from his nap so that’s all for now.  I will keep everyone updated.

I came across this at work today, I laughed out loud. My personal favorite is the harness to strap your kid to the bathroom door…

Bottle Update November 4, 2007

Filed under: Family, Milestones — Renee @ 2:27 pm

It is now day 3 of no bottles and I have to admit that it is going quite well.  I expected much more screaming and tears.  (I have been at work through most of it, maybe that is why I think it is going well.) However, when I got home from work yesterday at 3pm, Stephen still hadn’t taken a nap.  He finally did after about a half hour of not so horrible crying, but then at 6:30 I decided that he needed to get up and eat dinner cuz if we left him to sleep he would be up at 3am ready to go.  Then back to bed at 10pm.  I keep asking myself why we didn’t do this sooner.  I thought it would be a horrible and traumatic event for little Stephen.  Daddy kept telling me that he isn’t ready to give up his bottle.  Well, it’s done and I am glad.  Now on to the next step… Potty Training!! In my dreams.

Oh to be tongue-tied… November 3, 2007

Filed under: Family, Milestones, Preggers — Renee @ 12:10 am

Stephen had his 15 month check-up today and he is still perfect.  His new stats are: Head size- 48.5 cm (80%), Height-31.5 inches (64%), and Weight- 22# 3oz (18%).  We got yelled at for the whole bottle situation.  I asked for some ideas to help us break the habit of needing it to sleep.  She basically said cut him off cold turkey and buy some earplugs.  Is it just me or is that kind of mean? Well, mean or not mean we tried it out at nap time.  The end result: screaming for an hour in his room and no nap.  I am at work so hopefully Robin will stay strong at bedtime tonight.

My main concern for this visit, Stephen’s tongue.  They said it is mildly tongue-tied and they don’t suggest doing anything about it unless it causes problems with speech down the road.  They also said that his tongue will just learn to work in a different way so they don’t forsee any speech problems. HMMM….So my son will never be able to stick out his tongue? Her response “You are entitled to a second opinion.” I am not so sure that I just want to wait around and see if he can’t say certain sounds.  We think that we would rather be proactive and fix it just in case.  So now I need to find a ENT doctor that will laser that sucker.  Poor kid, I am sure he is thinking “I hate you mommy for giving me this screwed up tongue! If I could, I would stick it out at you right now!”

Lets not forget the shots.  I thought he was done with the shots for awhile.  Boy was I wrong.  They stabbed him 4 times, one of which was a flu shot so its our fault he got that one.  I bet he really wanted his baba after that. At least the period of time that he screams is getting shorter each time we go.

Oh and a fun side note: As I walked out of the bathroom last night Robin says to me “Why are you sticking out your stomach, your not even that pregnant yet?” I wasn’t sticking out my stomach, I thought it was all in my head that I was starting to show a little bit.  Yikes!!! To add to it, Lyhna asked me when my stomach is going to get really big so she can tell if I am having twins.  WTF!!! I will lose my frickin’ mind!!
