Let The Countdown Begin!!

Happy Halloween!! October 31, 2007

I uploaded all the new pictures from the weekend in Milwaukee for Trick-or-Treating.  Stephen seemed to have fun going door to door, he even wanted to go in some houses.  The kids were so cute all dressed up in there costumes.  My sister and I obviously get our craftyness from my mom (Madisen’s costume was also home-made).

Our trip started out not so great.  Somehow Stephen’s bottle managed to escape his diaper bag and didn’t make it into the car.  So we had one cranky baby from about Fond du Lac on.  Then there was the unscheduled stop to Cabella’s.  I wasn’t to happy about it until I realized that we were looking for accessories for Stephen’s costume.  I thought we were going to wander around looking at all the camo for an hour.  So that part wasn’t so bad.  Then there was the dreaded meeting to get Lyhna from her mother.  I had nicely asked hubby to take care of the details while I was at work so this exchange would go as smoothly as possible.  That didn’t happen.  What did happen was the crazy ex gave us wrong directions to where they were and then waiting in a church parking lot for 20 min with a cranky “I want my baba” baby.  In the end we made it to Grandma and Grandpa’s and that’s all that matters.

Updates! October 20, 2007

Filed under: Family, Milestones — Renee @ 8:00 pm

It’s been awhile, so here is what has been going on in the Donchess household lately:

1. Stephen is teething like crazy.  So that means a trip to the doctor because of a fever for 3 days, no appetite, and just all around mopey.  He actually fell asleep on the couch with no blankie or bottle, that’s when I knew it was bad…

2. Robin got a promotion at work.  He is the “lead welder.” So basically his manager tells him what needs to get done that day/week and Robin gets to tell everyone else what to and when, and then do a crap load of paperwork about it.  Congratulations honey!!

3. We carved pumkins.  Stephen’s first pumkin carving experiance was not a fun as I imagined.  All he wanted to do was crawl on the table to get the knives and eat all the pumpkin guts.  Pictures will be posted eventually when I can get our internet working properly again.

4. We have been going to the YMCA almost everyday.  I am actually able to run one whole mile now without stopping.  I am so proud of myself.

5. Lice outbreak at the YMCA Kids Korner (where Stephen goes while we get our sweat on). Stephen is lice-free thank goodness!

6. I saved the best for last people: I am pregnant!!!  I had great ideas of how we were going to tell everyone, but that didn’t happen when Lyhna let it slip to my mom and dad.  Then my sister found out, so I am just going to tell the whole world at once.  It looks like our new bundle of joy will be arriving in early June, no official due date yet.  I have my first appointment on November 6th, so I will let everyone know then.  So far I feel fine, just a bit more tired than usual (but I figure I will be tired for the next 5 years at least).

Thats all folks… I will let the shock sink in!!

I stole this from another blog… I had to.  It is to cute:

WHY GOD MADE MOMS
Answers given by 2nd grade school children to the following questions:

Why did God make mothers?
1. She’s the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
2. Mostly to clean the house.
3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers?
1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of ?
1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
2. They had to get their start from men’s bones then they mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?
1 We’re related.
2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people’s moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your mom?
1. My Mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.
2. I don’t know because I wasn’t there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
3. They say she used to be nice.

What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?
1. His last name.
2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?
3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your mom marry your dad?
1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mom eats a lot.
2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
3. My grandma says that Mom didn’t have her thinking cap on.

Who’s the boss at your house?
1. Mom doesn’t want to be boss, but she has to because dad’s such a goofball.
2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What’s the difference between moms & dads?
1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work.
2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
3. Dads are taller & stronger, but moms have all the real power ’cause that’s who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend’s.
4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.

What does your mom do in her spare time?
1. Mothers don’t do spare time.
2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your mom perfect?
1. On the inside she’s already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
2. Diet – you know, her hair. I’d diet maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?
1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I’d get rid of that.
2. I’d make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did it and not me.
3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

Babysitting Day 4 October 13, 2007

Filed under: Adventures in Babysitting — Renee @ 2:45 pm

My sweet little Stephen isn’t so sweet or innocent.  While babysitting on Friday, Stephen decided to become a UFC fighter.  He was trying to slap, hit, and sit on poor little Braeden.  Of course I was right there to block all of his attempts to beat the crap out of the baby.  Robin was also there and was very upset by this.  When we go to the YMCA, the day care never tells me that he hits other kids.  Is it just the baby or are they not watching him very closely? I wonder…

Adventures in Babysitting… October 11, 2007

Filed under: Adventures in Babysitting, Family — Renee @ 1:33 pm

This week I started watching Braeden, a 5 month old neighbor.  So far things are going really well. How bad could it be, he is only here for an hour and a half.  Braeden is a very mellow baby, he only fusses when he is hungry.  I can already see Stephen’s jealousy brewing.  When I have the baby sitting on my lap he backs up and tries to hop on board too.  Also, Stephen is wanting to be held all the time this whole week.  Yesterday it worked out nice with Stephen’s nap. He woke up 5 min before Braeden’s dad came to get him.  I would like to do that everyday, but I know Stephen needs the interaction and needs to learn how to be gentle and share.  Next week we will have the baby for 2 and a half hours, so we will see how it goes.  But so far so good!!

You’ll never know unless you put yourself out there… October 3, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — Renee @ 7:37 pm

I was outside playing with Stephen today when a neighbor had pulled up.  During the typical conversation in passing it came up that I was looking to start watching other children since I am home all day.  So we set up an informal meeting with the other parent.  Not 15 minutes after our meeting, they came knocking at my door and told me they wanted me to babysit their 5 month old starting Monday.  It all seemed to perfect, it happened so easily.  I am so happy that I just put myself out there to see what would happen.  Now I will be getting an extra pay check every week doing what I love… Hanging out with babies all day long! So since I have been thinking about doing this for a long time I have come up with a plan.  I want to get a child care license.  Thanks to my sister I have the information that I need to do it.  The only thing I am waiting for is a house.  Because, seriously, what parent wants to take there child to some lady’s tiny apartment everyday.  This is what I would want if the roles were reversed: A fenced-in yard, an indoor play area with lots of different activities, and a quiet nap area.  While we continue to look for a house I am keeping those things in the back of my mind.

The child care Gods were with me today.  Now I pass them along to my sister who is continuing her search for a “normal” babysitter.  Good Luck!

MAAA MAAA!! October 1, 2007

Filed under: Family, Milestones — Renee @ 2:48 pm

Well, he finally said  his first real “Ma Ma” this morning.  It wasn’t like all the cute Da Da’s I hear all day long.  It was more like he was yelling at me to hurry up with his breakfast.  But it was still a definate Ma Ma so I am happy with that!!
