I am offically a Lab Rat… July 31, 2007

I got the phone call today that I have been accepted to do the research study in Madison.  So I will be shipping out on August 5th for 9 nights, home for 6, and gone again for 30 days!!!! I think I have offically lost my mind.  I need to give Robin a tutorial on how to take, upload and email pictures so I can at least see pictures of my kids. So I have 2 and a half days to get ready to go.  We are going to Milwaukee for the weekend for Stephen’s 1st birthday. Oh boy, got to go….

This is the worst one to date.  In the .2 seconds it took for me to get to him after he fell into the table it was already a goose egg.  Then it bruised and there was a dent in the middle of the swelling.  Good lord this one had me on the phone to the doctor right away.

Seriously Freaking Out!! July 25, 2007

How do you plan for being away from your child for over a month?  There is a possiblilty that I will be taking part in a research study in Madison that pays handsomely.  After agonizing over the subject for weeks, I decided that in the long run I would be doing the right thing for my family.  And as an added bonus this will give father and son a good opportunity for quality time together without a hovering mommy.

SOOOO, now that I have decided to go (if I get accepted first), my list of things to do before I go has grown to astromonical proportions.  The first thing that I had to take care of was finding child care.  I spent one whole week all day everyday calling day cares, calling friends will kids in day care to find one that would work….No Deal!! No openings for 1 year olds, don’t open early enough, can’t stay for 10+ hours etc… So finally I found a friend of a friend to cover the week and a half that I didn’t get family to help out.  Luckily Robin is taking 2 weeks of vacation and the mother in law offered to fly out and stay for nearly a month.  So the big problem has been taken care of.  So, now I have to try to make a schedule for a 1 year old who sleeps until at least 8am that starts at 5:30am to go to the sitter.  How the hell do you do that, other than actually get him up at 5:30 every day now until he actually has to go there (Mommy really likes her sleep so I’m not sure how that will go).  Does Daddy actually know how much food, snacks, diapers and everything else to pack for a day?  Also, Stephen has his 1 year check up while I am gone, the doctor won’t let me change it to the week before because of immunization schedules.  So now I have to write down the answer to every possible question for the hubby because, honestly, he has no clue what goes on during the day (how many ounces of formula or juice/day, hours of sleep at naptime/night time, poopy diapers, peepee diapers the list goes on and on.

I am having an anxiety attack right now thinking about it all.  I think the worst part of all is that I have to give up complete control of Stephen.  Lord help me!! The only thing that is going to get me through this is knowing that the check at the end is going to be a nice down payment on a house!

Crawling is a thing of the past July 24, 2007

Stephen has given up completely on crawling.  He has even figured out how to stand up all by himself, no more crawling over to the wall or couch to help stand up.  He now runs away from me and even tries to push me out of the way if he is trying to get at something he knows he shouldn’t have.
In other news, I have been accused of stealing!! Do you believe that?  Anyone close to be knows about the situation between us and the ex-wife, it has been absolute hell the past couple of months.  Well, after a little sit down with her this past weekend regarding weekend time with Lyhna the ex finally comes clean and reveals the reason that she has been so awful lately is that they (mainly her husband)  think that I took money from their house while babysitting for her 2 year old. Long story short–  Apparently there was a substancial amount of money somewhere (that I never even saw) and some was missing when her husband got home from work.  And since I have no way of proving that I didn’t take this money months ago, there is no way to solve the problem.  Seriously, I was sick to my stomach when she said this.  I get more and more upset with her every second that I think about it.  If I had my way, I would never see or speak to her or her husband again.  I have never in my life been accused to such a thing. Enough about that…Karma works in funny ways, I am convinced that the evil beeyotch and her husband will get theirs someday, and I will laugh my ass of when it happens!!

Happy Birthday to me… July 18, 2007

Today I turn 24, which is almost 25, which is almost 30!!!! That sounds old, but I don’t feel a day over 20 so that is good I guess.  Nothing special planned for today.  Hubby took a long lunch so we went to the Olive Garden for lunch.  Now I am waiting for a friend to stop over then out to dinner.  Other than that I spent the day cleaning floors and folding laundry.  Happy Birthday to me!!!

Weekend Update… July 17, 2007

Filed under: Family, Milestones — Renee @ 2:57 pm

We spent the weekend down in Milwaukee again.  I finally got to go visit Ruchell and see her new baby.  Brooklynn was at least a whole pound bigger than Stephen when he was born but she was still ity-bity.  We also had a little get together for Lyhna’s birthday. My sister and brother-in-law were there with my neice along with my parents and grandma.  I great time was had by all, from what I remember anyway.  I slept on the bathroom floor, that should tell you what kind of night I had.  Robin informed me that I don’t remember as much as I thought I did, so if I upset or offended anyone I am very sorry, but I truely don’t remember :(

Lyhna wants to send out a big thank you to everyone that came for her party and all the gifts.  She especially loved her “credit card.” As soon as we got back she wanted to go shopping with it.  She maxed it out in about 6 minutes at Toys R Us!! I will post a picture of everything she bought.  So thank you again to all and happy birthday Lyhna!!!

A word to the wise… July 11, 2007

NEVER EVER assume you have more diapers somewhere in one of your 5 diaper bags!! I took the last diaper from the changing table.  Thinking I have 2 diaper bags with at least 3 diapers in each because I never am gone anywhere long enough for Stephen to be changed while we are out.  Well, I did not realize whenever Daddy changes a diaper he snatches one from the diaper bags.  So I finally go to get more diapers and just in time because the second we got home I heard the tell-tale grunts.  Thank goodness it wasn’t 15 minutes earlier!

_0001_45.jpgI have to admit, this one is my fault. He’s got a bump on his left eyebrow. I was simply trying to finish getting him dressed and of course he was trying to get away from me like always.  Well somehow during the struggle he smacked his head on the table that I just put back in the living room.  I thought, oh now that he is walking better we can have the table back…. I guess I was wrong.

Another day at the fountain… July 10, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — Renee @ 6:45 pm

Lyhna was a little upset when she found out that we went to play at the fountain without her, so being the world’s greatest step-mom that I am, after baking chocolate chip cookies and a trip to the new rocket playground, I took her and Stephen there again yesterday.  It started out perfectly fine then bad things started happening one right after another:

1. Lyhna slipped and fell down the little steps of the fountain and scraped her palm. The absolute end of the world for about 2 minutes, a few hugs and kisses and NO blood later all was well again until….

2. I look away from Stephen for .2 seconds because Lyhna wanted to show me something and SMACK, then Silence (to all other moms out there you know that is the sound or lack there of something horrible!) I look back and Stephen is on his stomach so I immediately know that he took a header.  Sure enough about 3 minutes of crying later appeared the egg and bruise on his forehead.  All is well again and back to the water for more splashing. Then…

3. Creepy, long haired, half-naked fat man shows up. He goes in the water for awhile then walks back to his VAN.  I think to myself  “Thank God the creepy fat guy is leaving!” I was wrong, he went to his VAN to lather up his hair and god know what else with soap and shampoo.  Back to the fountain to rinse off.  I’m thinking “Okay now I feel kinda bad because this guy is obviously homeless.” But then creepy fat guy starts smiling and laughing at my kids and tells me “Boy you really have your hands full, they are really cute. How old are they?” That was it, time to leave.  I don’t need the thoughts of this guy snatching my kids and doing god knows what in his crappy van.  I later found out that he lives out of his van behind some old warehouse.  I think our days of carefree splashing at the fountain are over!!!
