Let The Countdown Begin!!

4 Will Soon Become 5!!

Softball season begins again… April 30, 2007

Filed under: Family, Milestones — Renee @ 7:14 pm

Today starts another season of summer softball leagues for the Donchess family.  As of right now hubby is on 3 leagues a week (which is down from the 4-5 last summer). This season should be more fun for me at least.  Last year all I remember is being hugely pregnant and uncomfortable sitting on bleechers in the 90 degree heat.  At least I will have Beebo to chase after this summer.

In other news, for some crazy idea I thought it would be fun to work 5 night shifts this week (ranging in hours between 10pm and 8am).  I am having serious regrets that I did this.  Every now and then Hubby and I have a “discussion” about me not working enough.  So I picked up all these hours this week and what do I hear? “What the hell did you do that for?! Do you think I like sleeping alone every night? You will be sleeping all weekend and we won’t be able to do any family stuff.” I CAN’T WIN!!  I can’t really work during the day because the only baby sitter we have is the ex-wife and I really don’t get paid well enough to spend have of my check on day care.  I can’t work a pm shift during the week except on Wednesdays because of softball.  So I am left with no choice but nights when Beebo has no idea that I am gone and weekends. I am determined to not live in this apartment the rest of my life.  I want a house with a yard for the kids to play in, a basement,  I want to plant flowers, and have a real garage that you can park cars in.  So to get that if I have to work the crappy shifts for awhile to help save up money for a down payment on a house, so be it.  I really hope this is the last summer in this god-forsaken apartment!! Oh yeah, can I get a new car too? Pretty Please with sugar on top!!

Here is a new video of Beebo crawling.  He is getting much better so I had to get rid of the coffee table since he kept going under it and banging his head on the metal trying to get out.  Today he crawled from the living room to the doorway of his room and laid on the ground.  Apparently  he was telling me “Nap time mama!” So I put him to bed and he slept an incredible 3 hours!! (I also took a nap since I worked last night and have to go back tonight.)

A family stroll to the park April 28, 2007

After a heavy dinner of spaghetti with italian sausage and garlic bread, we packed up the kids and walked/rode bikes to the park(I am the only one who walked of course).  Check out the new pictures of the kids at the park.  Beebo didn’t really enjoy the swing to much this time around, but had fun playing in the sand!

At least I tried… April 26, 2007

Today was the last day to buy my quilts on Ebay.  Unfortunately none of them sold, although there were a few people “watching” them.  So I guess I will just make them for fun when I need a gift for someone.  There goes my brilliant idea of an easy way to make some extra cash while staying home.  Oh Well.

We be Crawling (kind of) April 23, 2007

The only thing that Beebo has made any attempt to crawl for is my, I mean his, cell phone. We are moving at about a rate of 1 foot per minute.  The video is about 2 1/2 minutes and it took that long to move about 3 feet to get his phone. Enjoy!

Don’t let a baby play with your cell phone! April 20, 2007

Lately my cell phone has been acting weird.  In the middle of a phone conversation it will switch to the headphone setting.  I don’t even have a headphone for my phone!  I could not figure out how to get it back to normal, the only way I could hear anyone is if it was one speakerphone. I called my phone company and they tried everything they could think of to fix it, no deal.  Then I went to the store where I got it and they told me it had water damage and there was kerosion in the headset plug that made the phone think it was plugged in.  Huge Bummer! My contract isn’t up until October so I am thinking that I will have to spend $300 on a new phone.  Luckily I was told that I can buy one of those prepaid phones and put my memory chip in it and it is good as new; same number and I don’t have to pay for minutes.  It sounded to good to be true, so I called a couple more places to see if they said the same thing and they did.  So I only had to spend $20 on a new phone.  I am not excited about this new cheap phone, but I guess it only has to last until October.  Lesson learned: Don’t let a baby play with/slobber on your cell phone!

I’m up to my elbows in crap!! April 18, 2007

Guess how many poopy diapers I have changed in the past two days…… Give up? I lost count after 10!!! Poor Beebo has been crapping up a storm lately.  We are talking huge blow-outs, the kind that go up his back, straight into the bathtub,  and I give up and throw out the onsie that he had on.  You would think that he would be upset by this or at least a little “pooped,” (pun intended). Not Beebo, he is his usual self screaming, playing rolling around the entire living room.  I called the doctor today and they suggested a few diet changes including no veggies for a few days, more grains, and buying a special organic baby yogurt with extra live cultures in it. So we gave cheerios another shot since I consider that to be a grain for a baby with only 2 teeth.  And wouldn’t you know he actually ate them this time.  The cute part about it is that he will put one Cheerio in his mouth then use his finger to smash it against his 2 teeth. He also seemed to really like the yogurt.  Hopefully he will be better tomorrow, please be better tomorrow!!

On another subject, my step-daughters aunt had a baby boy last week Tuesday.  She was only 24 weeks pregnant when she went into labor. She was flown to St. Josephs in Milwaukee.  Luckily they were able to give her 2 doses of a steriod to help mature the baby’s lungs.  He was born weighing only 2 pounds, 1 ounce and 13 inches long.  He was doing very well until today.  He developed and intestinal leak which is a potentially fatal condition.  He went into surgery and is doing better, they will know in a few days if the surgery was successful.  Baby Logan is in Gods hands now.  I am not a very religous person, but when it comes to a tiny baby who is struggling to survive you have to ask why.  Any extra thoughts and prayers would be appreciated.

Waiting… April 17, 2007

I started up my ebay account yesterday. I put 4 quilts that I have made on there,  people are looking at them but so far no bids.  Now we jsut wait and see what happens.

Being crafty can equal $$$ right? April 14, 2007

I have been making about a quilt a day on average.  I have run out of people and occasions to continue making them.  But it has become an addiction so here are my thoughts (please feel free to comment and tell me I am crazy): Since I enjoy making quilts so much, in fact it is almost like therapy for me, why can’t I turn that into money? On average I spend about $15 on supplies per quilt, if I sold one for $25-$30 or more on ebay I could make at least about $15 per quilt. I know, I know, someone has to want to buy them.  I have looked on Ebay and done some comparing, and I think the quilts that I have made recently are a heck of a lot better than some of the ones on there. Hubby seems to think this is the best idea ever, in fact he thinks eventually I should have a website where I could make quilts according to special requests.  I think that is a stretch but I am all for trying to sell a few on Ebay and see how things go.  So go to flickr and check out my latest creation.  Hubby came with to the fabric store and wanted a beach/picnic blanket so check out what I came up with.

Mother Nature is a B*#@!* April 11, 2007

Last time I checked it is spring.  So why is there winter storm warnings going across my television screen?  I live in the Fox Valley where is 6-8 inches of snow is expected between now and Thursday morning.  What the hell is going on?

While I am complaining, why are men such complete babies when they get the tiniest sniffle?  Hubby went out Friday night and has not been the same since.  Today he gets home from work and tells me he thinks he has an ear infection.  I tell him to go to the doctor and get some antibiotics and you will be better by tomorrow afternoon.  Does he listen? NO! So it is now 7:00 “Honey, I really think I am sick.” By now the doctor office is closed.  I reply “Go to urgent care and get medicine.”

Hubby: Will you call for me?

Me: It’s urgent care WALK-IN clinic, you don’t need to call.

Will you call anyways?

Fine (Meanwhile I have a baby who also has a cold and has spit up all over his 3rd pair of jammies tonight. I call: You don’t need an appointment, just “walk-in.”

Will you come with me?

Are you kidding me? You want me to get BeeBo ready to go out at 7pm when he is tired and cranky to sit in a waiting room while a doctor tells you that you are fine?

Yes. (I refused to go.)

Finally he goes all by himself like the big boy that he is and what does the doctor tell him: “You are just congested, no sign of an ear infection. Take a decongestant and gargle with warm salt water for the sore throat.” WHY ARE MEN SUCH BABIES???

Success… April 10, 2007

productsm.jpgThe new sippy cup is working out well.  Beebo drank 1 and a half ounces of juice from it this afternoon. He didn’t even seem to realize that it wasn’t his baba. Either he didn’t care or it was the fact that he was completely hypnotized by the Baby Einstein DVD on tv and didn’t notice he had the sippy cup.  Either way I am super happy about.  He seems to be getting another cold so I was happy to get some Vitamin C in the little guy.  Other than that no major news injuries here. Later!
